Inclusive Sustainable Livelihoods and Integrated Health Services for the crisis-affected people with Disabilities and their families in Yemen

Inclusive Sustainable Livelihoods and Integrated Health Services for the crisis-affected people with Disabilities and their families in Yemen.

Project Summary

This project aims to improve the livelihoods of 120 households with persons with disabilities through a comprehensive set of interventions. The primary focus is on providing tailored training programs in soft skills, financial management, and business development to equip beneficiaries with the necessary skills for economic empowerment. To ensure inclusivity, beneficiaries will be identified and assessed, and local vocational training centers will be made accessible to them. Workshops will be conducted for trainers and staff at these centers to create an inclusive learning environment that caters to the specific needs of persons with disabilities.

In addition to training programs, the project will establish financial safety nets and support services to enable selected beneficiaries to enroll in vocational training programs. A support network will also be set up for graduates to enhance their long-term success in the job market. This includes support in securing apprenticeships, internships, and financial assistance for establishing their own businesses. To promote the benefits of hiring persons with disabilities, awareness workshops will be conducted, and employer networks will be established. Key activities include developing apprenticeship/internship programs, establishing connections with microfinance institutions (MFIs) for credit and loans, and offering ongoing coaching and mentorship to participants.

The project’s success will be measured through various indicators, including the development of employer networks, the number of apprenticeships/internships secured by persons with disabilities, and the percentage of female-led enterprises receiving grants and accessing credit/loans from MFIs. By focusing on these activities and indicators, the project aims to improve the livelihoods of persons with disabilities and promote inclusivity within their households. Ultimately, it seeks to create a supportive environment where persons with disabilities can thrive and enhance their career prospects.
